TECHINCAL MANAGER - Approvals and Enquiries-

At the Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS), we promote water fittings regulations and safe plumbing practices in manufacture, design and installation. In addition, we provide the largest plumbing product approval scheme in the UK which enables manufacturers to demonstrate compliance, improving product sales and helping consumers choose compliant products.

We are looking for a motivated individual with excellent technical skills and understanding, to lead our approvals team. As well as operational responsibility for our approvals scheme, you will lead a team providing general regulations advice. Due to the technical nature of the scheme, engineering aptitude and technical capability will be highly desirable for role, although it is not essential that this is the water sector.

The successful candidate will be educated to HND level in a relevant subject such as engineering, ideally working in a manufacturing environment in product development or design. Reporting to the MD, they will have a good understanding of mechanical principles affecting the design of products, ideally products that use water but this not essential. They will be a self-starter with strong leadership, customer and communication skills.

TECHNICAL OFFICER -

Assist the Lead Technical Consultant to produce new and updated CIPHE Technical Guides. Obtain written contributions from authors; arrange peer reviews; proof read and edit

Assist the Lead Technical Consultant in projects to progress the technical education of engineers e.g. Continuing Professional Development (CPD) resources

Take direct responsibility for specific technical projects

Build and maintain effective relationships with Industrial Associates (IA) to secure their technical input to the Technical Working Groups, educational initiatives, live workshops etc

Obtain articles from Industrial Associates for publication; write technical articles

Organise CIPHE technical courses, seminars, and webinars 

Respond to Technical Enquiries from members

Support and positively leverage the Technical Working Groups (TWGs) e.g. obtain essential information, identify sources of new expert assistance, provide organisational help 

Raise the status of CIPHE in the plumbing and heating engineering sector

  •  Management of the finance function & overseeing the finance team.
  • Preparation of budgets, forecasts & cash flows

  • Preparation of Monthly Consolidated P&L & Balance Sheet
  • Timely production of statutory & internal financial reports
  • Financial modelling & analysis
