Bathing is an integral part of life in ensuring cleanliness and health are maintained, equally important is retaining one’s respect and independence is paramount to the end user.
10% of today’s population suffer from varying degrees of disabilities, the Bathroom Manufacturers Association and its membership via its web site offers guidance, information and practical advice to aid in the process of that ‘Special Care Bathroom’. Bathroom manufacturers have a plethora of products for the ‘Special Needs’ market.

"Using a wheelchair has made me appreciate the importance of a well designed bathroom. It is not just that I need an accessible bathroom in my own house, but also in the homes of my friends otherwise I can't visit them.

I therefore think it is great that the Bathroom Manufacturers Association has launched an initiative to encourage its members to incorporate accessible design in their bathrooms.

I have just bought a new house and I have spent a small fortune on a new en-suite bathroom. It will be fantastic once it is finished yet the only piece of specialist equipment I require is a shower seat. Get the bathroom right and the rest of the house will follow."
