WC's
Dual-flush systems - providing a short flush no greater than 2/3rds the volume of the full flush when only urine needs to be cleared.
Low Volume WCs that flush on volumes as low as 4.5 litres or less
Waterless suites - available for installation at sites where there is no water supply – but special installation conditions are required.
Cistern displacement devices (used to lower the flush volume) should only be used with WC suites installed before 1999 i.e. flush volumes greater than 6 litres. Even then the performance of the WC should be monitored to ensure that water is not wasted through double flushing. There is a possibility that drains can be blocked if insufficient water is not used.
